Support California State University, Bakersfield

Softball Excellence Fund

CSUB softball is under the leadership of new head coach Letty Olivarez and ready to take the next step in the Big West! Financial support for `Runner softball will help our student-athletes excel on the diamond and push for success in the Big West. Below are softball's top funding priorities.

Funding Priorities

1. Stadium Lights: We are one of the only teams in the Big West conference that does not have stadium lights. When the weather heats up in Bakersfield during the season, lights would allow us to have games during cooler evening hours. That would help with attendance, ticket sales and the fan experience at games overall, as well as allowing CSUB to host tournaments that showcase our community. Lights would also allow the team to practice in the early mornings or evenings so our student-athletes can maximize their ability to succeed.

2. Video Board:  A video board would allow the option for instant replay, which our conference is moving towards, and would allow a chance to gain funds through game advertisement, as well as in-game fan experience through marketing. It also helps the recruiting process and allows CSUB softball to bring in more elite players.

3. Padded Fences: Padded fences are essential for the safety of our players and visiting teams. This will reduce the risk of concussions and injuries due to the current fencing and uncovered poles. It will also help with enhance the facilities overall appearance and be compliant with NCAA rules.
