Sports excellence funds provide opportunities for CSUB Athletics fans to support student-athletes directly. Money contributed to the sports medicine excellence fund is used to support their annual operating budget and their funding priorities. Your generosity provides our coaches with the necessary sports medicine resources to treat all Roadrunner student-athletes! Below are sport medicine's top three priorities.
Athletic Training Room Enhancements
1. Wet Room: As a Sport Medicine Staff, we are continuously trying to add to our resources to help out student-athletes recovery and prepare their bodies for the stressors and demands of collegiate athletics. With the addition of a wet room, we would be able to offer both cold and hot whirlpools
2. Blood Flow Restriction Training (BFR): The addition of BFR would greatly improve our recovery and treatment efforts. The benefits of BFR therapy include improved healing, improved bone density, reduced pain levels, and improved soreness following intense exertion. This would be a beneficial addition to the modalities in the training room to help our student-athlete excel on the court/field.
3. HIVAMAT: The HIVAMAT is deep oscillation therapy unit resulting in an effective physiological effect on the skin, muscles, connective tissue and lymphatic system. The benefits of HIVAMAT therapy include relief of soft tissue pain, reduce swelling and inflammation, break up excess fibrous tissue, improve restricted range of motion, increase blood to area and shorten recovery time. This would be a beneficial addition to our modalities especially with acute injuries and post-surgical injuries.
